Eid-ul-Mawlid: FG Declares September 5 Public Holiday

If you have been waiting for a short break from the week’s hustle, here comes good news. The Federal Government has set aside Friday, September 5, 2025, as a Public Holiday in honour of Eid-ul-Mawlid, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad.
Who Made the Announcement
The notice came through the Ministry of Interior. Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government. The statement itself was signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr Magdalene Ajani, and made public in Abuja.
Message to Muslims and the Nation
The Minister extended warm greetings to Muslims in Nigeria and around the globe. His words carried a call to action, urging everyone to reflect on the Prophet’s life.
He highlighted virtues such as:Peace

Tolerance
Compassion
These, he said, remain the foundation stones for a united and stable country.
Call for Prayer and Unity
